THE _HILT_N
The building that housed The Chilton Country Pub & Hotel (Houghton-Le-Spring, Sunderland) dates back to c1840. Over the years it has fluctuated between public house and private dwelling. In 2022 it was the victim of two arson attacks within the space of a few months. Since then it has sat in ruin, its decline exacerbated by a failure to keep the site secure. In 2025 it suffered yet another fire.
